Mathematics Department Information
Key Stage 3
At KS3, students are taught in sets of approximately 30 students with 6 lessons per fortnight. Year 7 are taught in mixed ability groups, to allow students to settle in to their new school and to ensure that when we set the students for Year 8 we have a very good idea of their mathematical ability. We teach topics across 2-3 weeks, with a test after every two topics covered. The Learning Pathways are given to students before each two or three topics, providing students with a detailed breakdown of each topic and allowing them to track their understanding.
